Another Quiet Day

So it was another fab day in Italy - very hot - but we're not complaining...

Miss H did not wake up this morning until 11... I think it was Venice finally catching up on us all.

So we lounged around for the morning before having lunch...

In the afternoon the girls went into Caorle to visit the waterlark - Aquafollie... Cue big rides and great fun. What a blast! Had great fun, what a laugh.

So I did the shopping and spent the afternoon chilling out and catching up with some reading on my Kindle. Whist that was great I got bitten repeatedly... It's the first time this has happened whilst we have sat on the decking butZ nevermind...

So after showers it was out for a - guess what, you guessed it, a pizza.

So it's our last full day tomorrow and we are going to make the most of it. We are due to meet Ali for lunch and have lots of packing to do before we leave on Saturday. It's straight to the beach in the morning.

The girls left around 2 and returned around7. They were really tired but had really enjoyed the waterpark.

Siesta Time

So after a very long day yesterday today was only going to be a quiet day.

Everyone was feeling a little weary from the day before.

So the morning was about going to the pool, followed by lunch at home.

After Siesta time the girls took out a pedalo again - I have photographic proof but the photos on my phone are not great. You will need to wait until next time and I will take my camera with me.

After showers for everyone it was a walk along the beach to the restaurant. It's coming up to a quarter to ten and it is extremely hot and humid.

Water Water Everywhere

So a slight change of plan saw us head off to Venice a day ahead of schedule. Not entirely sure why - that's just the way we roll...

The package was a coach transfer to Punto Sabbione (or something like that) and a return ferry to Venice. We were first to the bus stop at 8.30 but nearly last onto the coach. But let's not open that can of worms again...

Seem to have a problem at the moment with posting photos on the blog, so apologies if there is limited or no photos.

We must have walked further around Venice today than on our previous 2 visits but much to Miss B's disappointment missed finding Mango, H&M and Hollister. It wasn't for lack of trying though...

We had promised the girls a Maccy D but again didn't manage to locate it so we found somewhere else to eat. It's only been open a couple of weeks, so we tried out the Hard Rock Cafe. It made a great change from pizzas and pasta, and it was good to get out of the sun - mid 40s again for anyone who is interested...

Plus they had WiFi so we could catch up on news etc, so that kept Miss B happy.

After lunch we wandered around doing the tourist things whilst browsing the shops and side streets. Can't believe how much we have drunk today... And before you jump to conclusions I mean soft drinks...

We beat our current record for a round of drinks in Venice - €24 for four cans of soft drink... Ahh well they were ice cold and desperately needed. We had finished the drinks we took with us and needed the sit down in the shade. Great spot to people watch.

Then we took the ferry back to pick up our coach. It was the last to arrive and we were all glad to see it. The journey back to the camp site was about an hour and I am typing this now we have returned on our balcony with an ice cold bottle of Birra Moretti - I think I've definitely earned this today.

I would love to know how far we have walked today, probably not as far as we think, but certainly more than we intended. I had toyed with bringing our GPS device with us - it would have been really interesting to know...

So as we ponder where to go and eat tonight that about wraps up Tuesday...

Our Home

Carefree Sunday

Sunday saw a very lazy start to the day for two members of the party. Mrs J and the girls then went off to play crazy golf leaving Mr J some quiet time to catch up on some reading. In case you were so wondering Mrs J won...

Still planning on how best to get to Venice and have finally decided to go with an organised tour. There are a couple of reasons for this; firstly all the organisation is done for you, secondly you get picked up and delivered back to the camp site and thirdly, you are guaranteed a seat - hopefully.

We still haven't decided which day but if I was a betting man, and there are still spaces, I would guess Wednesday.

Siesta time is nearly over so we will need to decide if it is pool or beach or both... Won't bother describing the weather - you've guessed already - it's very hot.... And sunny...

The girls, or rather Miss B and Miss H have decided on the pool, so have decided to sit this one out, take some more tablets and start another book. The decking on our home is completely covered so is virtually in the shade all day so is great for sitting outside and watching the world go by.

Miss B managed to leave her glasses where they were trodden on so one of the arms has come off. Sellotape has come to our temporary rescue but not sure if we will need to go in venture of an optician tomorrow.

Market Day

Another quietish day - temperature was in the high 40s and the living was easy...

We were up reasonably early to catch the bus to Caorle for the weekly market. We had seen the market when we arrived last week and thought we needed to check it out.

So a week has gone already... It was changeover day today so the camp site was really busy with plenty of comings and goings. One of the by-products of this is that they close the road to the camp site to the buses which meant we missed the bus we were aiming for. It's no consolation being able to see the bus and then watch it drive off in the distance...

That meant a further half hour wait and the inevitable bun fight that ensued. At least there is consistency in the world. In Italy, like the good old US of A there is no letter Q in the alphabet. I'm loathe to name nationalities here - aside from the British - but if they could put beach towels on bus seats...

There really is no shame in a party of 8 arriving late and then standing in front of you when the bus arrives, getting on and then sitting there with that smug look. Not impressed or happy.

We had lunch at home and enjoyed a bit of a siesta before heading for the pools until closing time at 6.

Next up was showers and getting dressed up to walk down to the beach to a restaurant we hadn't tried so far. The view out to the sea is fantastic and there is a bit of a breeze which helps. The sun has set and it is starting to get dark.

Following yesterday's post I didn't get round to checking out on Google for Romeo and Juliet. It may have to wait until I return home and add it to my projects...

Picture of Verona Arena

Romeo Oh Romeo

So the blog post should give you the answer... But if you need help we went to Verona. It was Ali's day off and offered to drive us all to Verona. It's about a two hour drive and by 11.30 we were there.

The car park was amazing with opera music piping out. First stop was the Arena - we had to do the tourist thing... When in Italy...

They were in the middle of changing productions so the stage was very interesting. We stepped up to the top of the cheap seats - unreserved stone seats to you - for a spectacular view of the surrounding area.

We had looked into going to a production but the coach doesn't return until 4 in the morning. So will need to leave that for another time...

Next up was Juliet's balcony - well in for a penny... It did vet us discussing iif there was an actual Juliet, but more of that later... It was a right royal scrum at the balcony but well worth the effort.

After all that excitement it was time for lunch and we found a restaurant just off the main square to sit down and seek refuge in the shade. The temperature was in the mid 40's today and that takes it toll.

So following the Juliet theme we went in search of her tomb - still not having answered the key question - was it an actual person. If not it is a great piece of marketing as I paid for 5 people to view the tomb of a non-existent person.

I will Google it later but the highlight when visiting the tomb was Miss H  asking 'where is she then?' as the tomb was empty...

Next up was a lot of shopping before heading back to the car. Ali then suggested some retail therapy on the way home at an Outlet Mall. Never ones to turn down shopping the girls did some damage to their purses.

We finally returned to the camp site at about 8 after a fab day visiting places we would never of had a chance of visiting ourselves. It was well worth the journey and would be happy to go back there and stay.

So we are all feeling tired and sun beaten and sitting here having pizzas and pasta whilst I type this. Thanks Ali for a fab day.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow we have been here a week but tempus fugit (if my memory of Latin hasn't let me down - quite apt given where we are)

We know our plans for tomorrow but you know the rules - you will need to pop back and if I have time I will do some research into Romeo and Juliet.

Just A Quiet Day

So today is Thursday and we have, as the post suggests had a very quiet day.

It was another scorcher - I know I'm repeating myself but we're not complaining. It's lovely to wake up to blue sky and brilliant sunshine and more importantly no work.

Haven't taken many photos today so thought I would post another one from yesterday at Caorle for your viewing pleasure...

There is a craft market at the camp site so we are going to have a look before finding somewhere to eat.

It seems very strange having been in the UK that everyone smokes - indoors and outdoors - in restaurants - it seems like the ban is universally ignored. I had thought that it applied in the EU but could be wrong?

Another thing I had forgotten is that the food comes out separately so there can be quite a delay between you all getting your meals.

Tomorrow we are off on a real adventure courtesy of Ali - but you will need to come back tomorrow and check. Before you all say - we've guessed already - it's not Venice so there...

So we decided to give the restaurant we visited on our first night another chance but suffice to say we won't be going back. To say the service was poor would be an understatement...
